Top 10 Best Weapons for Beginners in PUBG

If you think that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is one of the most-exciting and nerve-wrecking shooter games, you are not alone on this thought.

Since it was released on March 2017, a number of populations hooked on this game are rising exponentially. With overwhelmingly positive reviews from fans and critics, Battlegrounds presented new types of gameplay that could be easily approached by players of any skill level and was highly replayable. No wonder it is considered as the defining game of the battle royal genre. (Learn more details about PUBG here).

If you’re already invested in PUBG but have not figured out which weapon to use yet, you have come to the right place. We have selected some of the best weapons that are ideal for beginners.

  1. AWM [Sniper Rifle]

This sniper rifle is the goldmine of all sniper rifles. Though it’s a crate weapon, it’s best for beginners because of its incredible firepower. Beginner players would experience what real damage is. Plus it teaches them patience and responsibility when taking shots since it’s a crate only weapon.

This weapon will teach you how to value each shot. Wasting rounds with this gun is similar to throwing away a good piece of steak. It comes with a whopping 40,000 body hit impact power so you give nothing but maximum damage to your opponents. Use this gun wisely and savor its unlimited power.

  1. Karabiner 98 Kurz

If this weapon looks familiar, that’s because this vintage bolt-action sniper rifle has been used in several shooter games such as Socom, Call of Duty and even Battlefield. It’s a favorite because of the great power it brings. Once you shoot your target with this gun, it’s more likely that they’ll be dead in just a single shot. Master this gun at long range and your opponents and teammates would not even think that you are just a newcomer.

It’s a bolt-action rifle, meaning you would need to reload another bullet into the chamber after every shot before you can shoot again. This feature will teach you how to take your shots wisely.

  1. Mini14 [Sniper Rifle]

The Mini14 is better than other bolt action rifles because it’s a semi-automatic Carbine sniper. On a layman’s term, it simply means having the ability to fire off multiple shots in a quicker succession.

Beginners in PUBG will find this weapon as a great option for a base sniper because you can practice your shots without waiting too much to reload. If your accuracy is on point, this weapon can cause excessive amounts of damage to your opponents.

  1. SCAR-L [Assault Rifle]

The SCAR-L is one of the most favorite picks of PUBG enthusiasts because it can be used in several ways. This weapon is perfect for you if you’re looking for stability and the ability to fire off shots without having to worry too much about recoil. Beginners need something that aims for damage and precision, hence making this assault rifle a beginner’s favorite.

You can create your own ultimate beast out of this gun because it can use up to 4 slots, you can attach grips, muzzles, sights and magazines. Plus this gun is not hard to find so make sure that you grab one immediately the moment you see it.

  1. M16A4 [Assault Rifle]

Compared to other sophisticated assault rifles, M16A4 is relatively easier to use. This weapon is excellent – whether in close or long range. Just an 8x scope on it and it transforms itself into an amazing sniping machine. Because of its impeccable accuracy, it can take enemies down even if they are yards away.

On the downfall, M16A4 can only hold 3 slots on the gun. What does this mean? It means that you can still acquire the magazines, muzzles and sights but not the grip option.

  1. UMP9 [SMG]

If you’re looking for a weapon that has very common ammunition, then UMP9 is one of your perfect choices. It uses the same ammo as the P18C, which is a very common pistol to find in the game. Having plenty supply of ammo is essential in PUBG, particularly on the late part of the game.

Another great feature is its ability to hold a good amount of attachments from red dot sight, compensator, suppressor and a flash hider. Having these attachments transforms it into a deadly gun.

  1. Kriss Vector [SMG]

Also known as the Vector, this weapon is a good choice during the early phases of the game due to its strength and accuracy. It’s ideal for beginners due to its multiple firing modes, giving you more time to practice in each mode (Single, Burst, Auto). This gun works best if used up close or mid-range.

  1. S686 [Shotgun]

S686 is a very powerful shotgun that has the capacity to turn any nearby enemies into red mist. It has 2 very fast rounds to shoot off which is probably the main contributor of its strength. Compared to S1897, S686 carries more rounds in between slower shots. S1897 takes 0.750s to fire one round as compared to S686’s 0.200s. This shotgun is also not a hard item to find.

  1. Pan [Melee]

You must be wondering why this pan is on the list when it’s not even a gun. Remember that anything that is lying around in PUBG is essential, especially when your life is on the line. Pan is the strongest melee weapon in PUBG. Not only can it be used to hit your opponents until their brain scatters into pieces but it can also be used as a shield for your arse should you be caught in a gunfight.

  1. R1895 [Pistol]

With its base damage of 46 and body impact power of 8,000, R1895 is the strongest pistol amongst its category. Don’t underestimate this revolver as it can certainly knock down your opponents should they get near you. You have to make every shot counts because it’s on the slower end of the pistols with roughly 0.400s time between each shot.

Beginner’s Guide – 8 Tips to Excel in First-Person Shooter Game

Just like in any new game that you start learning to play, it’s expected that your first few days will be spent in a steep learning curve. You will have your fair share of accidentally friendly fire, embarrassing kill-cam footage and catastrophic misclicks.

The expected learning curve is not an excuse though to just slack off and accept that you will have the worst first-shooter game experience on your beginner days. You would still have to do your part – and that means researching about the game and collecting tips that can help you have an edge against your fellow rookie competitors.

Below are some proven tips from first shooter experts to ace that learning curve.

  1. You Need to Know the Map

In whatever course that we’re taking, we need to know which direction we are going. Not having a compass or knowing the map will make you wander aimlessly.

Same thing applies to first-person shooter games. Being familiar with the map of the game is critical. In fact, map knowledge is one of the most important factors in playing the game. Map familiarization gives you the location of where all your power ups are, your ammunition for supply and health packs for regeneration. If you’re playing Battlefield or Call of Duty franchises, knowing the map will help you keep an eye on your teammates and identify the enemy spawn point.

  1. Find a Weapon that you’re Comfortable With

Finding a weapon that you’re most comfortable with is another way to have an enjoyable and productive game.

The first thing that you need to do is find a weapon that you can reliably use. Don’t base the gun of your preference solely on its appearance. It may look fancy and flashy but it’s helpless if it’s not compatible to you. Find a gun that you like, use it continuously until you master it. Avoid changing guns like how often you change your clothes. You won’t be able to know if you’re fully compatible if you’re constantly changing your weapon.

Spend about playing a class, loadout or using one type of weapon. The first week should be allocated to getting used to the play style while second week is spent to refine your techniques.

  1. Turn Your Volume Way Up When You Come Up to a Blind Spot

Coming into a blind spot, like a corner, can put you on a vulnerable situation. Since your view is limited, it’s important that you rely solely on your sense of hearing. Turning on your hearing antenna can make you prepare if there’s an approaching enemy.

When you’re near a door, window, corner or other blind spot, make a pause and listen to the surrounding sounds. Listen intently if someone is approaching you or is moving because they have heard you.

  1. From There, Go All In

Being on the blind spot give you the initial shock and surprise. Try to get over this initial reaction and go all in. Aim down at the target in front of you and pie that corner.

Remember that this is a game after all. You don’t have to overthink everything and be overly cautious. Give out all that you can and go all in.

  1. To Frag or Not to Frag?

Frag is an action to deliberately injures or kills someone using a fragmentation grenade.

Of course, you have to cautiously use frag. You have to know when the perfect time to throw a grenade is. So when exactly is the perfect time?

The first rule in using a frag is that you throw a grenade when you know that your team is behind you. Next, throw a grenade only when you are sure that you are going to get a kill. The kill should ideally more than one, say you have the aim to two or three enemies gathering in the room with few windows or doorways for escape. Once you have your target, toss the grenade and hope that none of your teammate would unexpectedly dive into the room and get burned together with your opponents.

  1. Move Cautiously When Scouting a Map

Giving up a good position to go scouting is the last thing that you want to do. There’s no room for impatience in this game. Scout a map cautiously and always communicate with your team.

If you don’t have communication with your team, see if you can get a look on where your team is spawning. This way, you can zero in on the position of your enemies and move forward from there.

Having a headset is much better. You can hear the sounds around you clearer and can easily talk to your teammates. If you don’t have a good view of the map, simply ask your teammates where the enemies are.

  1. Target Whoever That Is Facing You First

When it comes to picking your target, it does not necessarily mean that you’ll do it to the closest person. It’s better if you aim your target first to whomever that is facing you as they offer more threat. Once you’ve killed them down, move on to whoever that is closest to you. Try lining up your target, especially if you have limited view. Once your first target has dropped, you can move on to the next one without doing much readjustment.

  1. Headshots Are Not Everything

We often have this perception that accurate shooters are great at headshots.  Even on action films, you would always see the lead actor killing down the villains with a single shot on the head.

When you’re shooting for accuracy, it’s better if you go for center mass. Start at the sternum and work your way up.

A lot of players go for headshots if they are looking for a quick kill. Though it’s immensely satisfying, aiming for headshots miss 80% of the time. You’re up for a more successful kill if you aim at the chest and let your recoil carry your shots upward.

Factors That Contribute to a Great First Person Shooter

If you think first-person shooter (FPS) is only for dumb people, think again. Many have this notion because all the shooter needs to do on this genre of shooter game is to point at their enemies and click on them until they die.

In the world of FPS, the player navigates around the game world using a first-person camera and uses a weapon to shoot at his enemies. While all of first-shooter does this, there are some shooters who do a lot more. There’s more to being a great shooter than just literally pointing at your enemy and firing until they die.

Let’s compare shooters to a pizza. Some shooters are like the basic pizza, the ones with pizza dough, some tomato sauce and a little cheese on top. While there are others who are like a mouth-watering pepperoni pizza with different kinds of cheese, plenty of pepperoni slices, a handful of olives and dried basil as toppings.

So what upgrades a basic pizza to a pepperoni pizza? Below are some of the additional “ingredients” needed to turn you into a great first person shooter.

  1. Interesting Movement

Though it’s cool to climb a ladder, being able to jump, activate a jetpack, jump a little bit higher, maintain forward momentum while gaining height is a different story. Making a combination of interesting movements will give you an edge against your opponents.

Movement has been a priority in the FPS genre from the very beginning. Example of this is Quake and Unreal, a game which allows forms of wall-jumping and dodging. There is also Doom which focuses on fast movements which allows players to strafe past damage. You don’t need to be a fantastic ninja that can do all of these summersaults and acrobatic movements. You just need to make your movements interesting.

  1. Challenging Opponents

Can you think of an action movie that falls short of exciting scenes? Or perhaps a thriller where the killer just died easily after one gunshot?

Movies that lack action scenes can leave us disappointed. A villain that dies easily without putting up a good fight is certainly a bore.

This is also the same with FPS. An enemy that does not give you a good fight will not only bore you but won’t also help to improve your skills.

Imagine an enemy that just stands there and does not do anything to dodge the bullet. Or perhaps an opponent that does not shoot back or dies easily. You certainly don’t need an enemy as good as Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible, but you don’t want someone as gentle as Winnie the Pooh either.

You want an opponent that always keeps you on your toes. You need someone that pushes your skills and tactics beyond your limits. Great games are not the ones where you had it easy but the ones that you worked hard for and end up victorious.

  1. Maps That Make You Think

Most people associate the FPS with “guns”. Whilst this genre centers on gun and other weapons, we should not forget that this combat is based in a first-person perspective.

Featuring verticality in level design is important. Design that enables shooter to move forward, backward, side to side and up and down is so outdated. You need a design that entices and empowers the shooter to move.

The “Sword of Crota” room in Destiny is one of the best room design created. It is set on multiple levels and filled with columns and series of enemy spawn points throughout the room. This design encourages you to navigate through the map as you need to actively hunt your opponents down rather than waiting for them to come to you.

You need more engagement to hone your skills. Engagement is a thing that draws you into the gaming experience. A perfect example of a game that encourages more engagement is Dark Souls. This game requires you to think on how to engage your foes instead of just mashing the X button to attack them. Click here to know more about Dark Souls.

  1. Meaningful Enemy Feedback

In whatever aspect of our life, there won’t be any improvement if we don’t receive feedback. It’s something that gives validation of what we do and points us to areas where we have to improve.

Meaningful enemy feedback is also necessary to develop a great shooter. Fancy popup messages when you shot an enemy can be repetitive and dull. Though seeing an additional 500 XP can initially be inspiring, it would not make you feel that the combat is nearly as good as it should.

But if you have tried playing F.E.A.R, receiving enemy feedback is totally different. When you shot an enemy dead, there’s a huge cloud of dust and blood when the enemies explode. Games like Destiny or Rage have enemies that flinch and stumble when shot.

Gibbing is a method of feedback that’s been popularly used by many game developers. Pronounced as “jibbing”, it’s a feeling of wonderful kill where your enemy explodes in a meaty shower when hit. Seeing your enemy burst into pieces is a gratifying and rewarding experience.

There is also the element of sound. You feel more connected to the game when you hear the enemies shout “I need backup!” or “He’s too fast!”

  1. Guns That Move Us

Just as knives are important to chefs, guns are also equally important to shooters.

Your weapon plays a huge role in killing your opponents and having the edge on the game. With this being said, you need to have a gun that has the ability to move you. Take Destiny for example. One of their biggest prides is their exotic revolver called The Last Word. You just don’t simply shoot this gun instead, your hand would need to twirl the pistol around when switching to it and fan the gun to fire it. This results to a glorious camera shake that indicates how powerful the gun is.

Beginners Guide in Playing Overwatch

If you’re into shooter game, then you should not miss out Overwatch.

This team-based multiplayer first-person shooter video game was developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It was released on May 24, 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.

Veteran players could find this game a bit daunting. As the developer launched its first Anniversary event, they invited new players to give the massively popular multiplayer shooter a try as part of their celebration.

If you want to experience this fun and exciting game yourself, below are some things that you should know first to rock your first game.

The Heroes of “Overwatch”

Overwatch has 24 heroes that are currently available, each of them having their own unique skills. It is advisable that you start with the Training mode first and try out different heroes to find one what works best for you.

It has four types of heroes: offense, defense, support, and tank. Offense heroes specialize in dealing damage, defense heroes excel in preventing opponents from advancing their attack, support heroes provide healing and bonuses to allies, and tank heroes soak up the damage dealt by enemies to protect their teammates.

Soldier: 76 is a great choice of offense hero for beginners as his traits resemble the characters of traditional first-person shooters. If you’re looking for a defense hero, Bastion is a good choice. He is ideal for beginners as you will be forced to learn the details of each map with his ability to transform into high-powered but immobile turret.

If you’re looking for a support hero, you can never go wrong with Lucio. He is a great option because of his simple skills and versatility. Pick Reinhardt as your tank as he is a valuable member of any team because of his massive shield.

Whilst they are the ones recommended for beginner players, don’t be shy to try as many heroes as you can. You have your own special needs and finding a hero that suits yours is important.

Game Modes

Overwatch has four game modes, with mode being randomly chosen when a player enters the queue to join matches.

Assault – in this game mode, the attacking team should attempt to capture a certain point on the map. Assault maps have to capture points and the defensive team’s role is to stop their opponents.

Escort is the second game mode. In this mode, the attacking team pushes forward a payload to a delivery point, with a few checkpoints along the way. The defensive team can stop their opponents from pushing the payload and even slowly send the progress back.

The third game mode is Hybrid. It starts off as an Assault match with the attacking team looking to earn a point. It then transitions into an Escort match as they would need to accompany a payload.

Control is the last game mode. In this mode, opposing teams are battling each other to control an objective in the best-of-three series. The object can be captured by holding a control of it for a certain period of time. The team that has control of the objective will have their score percentage increased until they reached 100 percent or the opponent wins it back.

Tips on How to Play Overwatch

Unlike other multiplayer shooters, getting the highest number of skills in this video game does not necessary win the match. This is the first thing that beginner players should learn. You should have proper teamwork along with your allies, regardless of what game mode you are in. With this, it is critical that you have good communication. Always communicating with each other is essential.

While it’s important that you chose a hero that has unique skills, winning the game does not rely solely on your heroes. You should use tactics and strategies instead of depending on these heroes to bring you to victory. Let’s take Soldier:76 as an example. He won’t be able to contribute to the team if he refuses to charge into enemy lines. Reinhardt would not be able to serve his purpose if he’s only using his shield for his protection.

Just like with any games, you don’t develop your skills overnight. You would need to allocate a lot of time practicing this game. You can either enter the Training mode to have a feel of your hero’s skills. You can also go through Quick Play matches to fight against players who are on the same level of skill. Luckily though, Overwatch is a fun and exciting game, plus it’s also fast-paced. This means that you can improve your skills in a shorter amount of time plus you are having fun while doing so.

Additional Tips to Start Your Winning Streaks

  • Be flexible and learn at least one character of each class

When figuring out the composition of your team’s hero, it’s best to focus on balance. The in-game prompts helps nudge you into the right direction and gives you a clear hint on when you need a certain type of hero. Endeavor to master at least one hero from the Offense, Defense, Tank, and Support classes.

  • Don’t fight alone

This is one classic mistake that plenty of multiplayer shooters are guilty of. Since it’s a team game, it’s obvious that you should work together as a team and not charging the enemy one by one. The use of your abilities will be maximized if they are tandem with your allies.

  • Blow off some steam with Arcade modes

Just like with any other competitive games, Overwatch can sometimes cause you to feel frustrated. Losing a few games in a row or getting saddled with uncooperative teammates can certainly get on your nerve. Instead of letting frustration get the best of you, hop into the Arcade mode to take a break from the regular action of Quick Play. The sheer variety of these modes and the excitement it brings is an effective way of making you cool down.

How to Become a Better Player in Far Cry

First-person shooter games have been traditionally quite popular in Germany in the recent years. Some people believe that this popularity is brought by the people’s desire to “rebel” against the state. FPS games have become the subject of controversial debate, with many people raising their eyebrows to violent content of this game. Despite the negative acceptance of some citizens, FPS games are still unstoppable in this country.

One of the most popular FPS games that took the limelight is Far Cry.

What is Far Cry?

Far Cry is a popular franchise of first-person shooter video games that was first developed by German studio Crytek and published by Ubisoft on March 23, 2004.

It had a positive acceptance, as evident to its 730,000 sale units within four months of release. The story of the game features ex Special Forces operator named Jack Carver, who is stranded on a mysterious archipelago in Micronesia. His mission is to search for the female journalist he was escorting after she went missing when their sailboat was destroyed by mercenaries.

The success of Far Cry has given birth to a series of franchise. Far Cry 2 was released on 2008, Far Cry 3 on 2012, Far Cry 4 on 2014 and Far Cry 5 this 2018.

If you don’t want to miss out on this great game franchise, it’s never too late to learn. Below are some tips that you can apply if you want to try your hands on the latest installment of Far Cry.

Tips on How to Play Far Cry 5

  1. Start the game by going west

Map of Far Cry 5 is broken into 3 regions – North, East and West. You could venture into any of them and can still step back out and go to other regions.

If you go north first, you will have to go through long stretches of mountains dotted with lakes and rivers. If you start with east first, you will be surrounded by Bliss fields and get constant harassments by Angels, zombie-like Bliss-addicts of the game. Going west first is a good move. It’s mostly flat, making it easier to traverse. It also offers a good variety of people to meet and missions to do.

  1. Get boomer right away

You will have animal buddies in Far Cry 5. One of the most helpful buddies is Boomer, a video dog game that is not only your pet but can also help spot and fight enemies, revive you when you’re down and get fallen guns from enemies.

Though you can find other allies in this game, having Boomer first is a smart move. He’s the easiest to unlock and one of the best among allies. Head to the southwest to a place called Rae-Rae’s Pumpkin Farm as soon as you’re done with the game’s prologue on Dutch’s island. Find an enemy cultist named “Peggies” and kill them. Then look for a dog inside a cage. You have your new best friend as soon as you’re able to pet him.

  1. Socialize on everyone you meet

Talking to everyone you meet in Far Cry 5 is helpful. You can get as much information as you can when you socialize. You unlock portions of the map every time you read a map, visit someone in person or hear about it from a stranger.

U.S Military’s Take on First-Person Shooter Games

Violent video games, especially first- person shooters, have become embedded within the culture of America over the past several decades. Americans like to play FPS games for pure, innocent fun while others love the exhilarating feeling of eliminating an enemy.

U.S military has found the popularity of FPS games a welcoming development. The military has encouraged many of its soldier’s to play these video games as a way of continuing combat training.

What effects do these video games have on U.S soldiers? Do they actually help in recruiting, training and retaining troops?

From Battle Screen to Battlefield

Many U.S military believed that they have to stay in the mindset of a soldier even when they are not on duty. For them, FPS games were the perfect tool for achieving this goal.

Amongst the popular games played by soldiers are “ARMA 2”, “Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2”, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare”  and “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2”. These video games are a reflection of real-life combat situations.

FPS games enable players to work together as a team. You have to create a tactical plan as a team and deliver this plan as a team as well. When one team member is down, you have to rush to his rescue and help bring down the enemies. You also look after each other, when one teammate is short in life, you can give your own extra life. This goes the same in the real battlefield. You can’t just rush into the enemy’s camp alone or leave your fellow soldier wounded in the fight.

Playing these games is not only a great way of killing time but it’s also effective in harnessing combat attitudes that are essential in the real battlefield.

Altered Realities

Though there’s the undeniable similarity, FPS games don’t accurately simulate what the real life of soldiers are like. First, military tours of duty don’t solely mean having chaotic and hard-charging battles like those in FPS. Most of the soldiers don’t participate in any full-frontal combat operations.

Most importantly, there are no ethical and legal considerations in the digital world. There are no ramifications when innocent people are killed or when things go wrong. These games could somehow influence how people think of the real-world consequences. A study conducted by psychologists Jolanda Jetten, Brock Bastian and Helena R.M. Everything You Need to Know about Army Moves

Shooter games have reached its massive popularity all over the world. Game developers from any part of the globe are doing their own contribution in producing games that are above quality and would hook the interest of players.

Spain does not want to be left behind when it comes to shooter games. Aside from patronizing this game genre, local developers have devout their time and effort in creating their version of shooter games.

Dinamic Software was a Spanish video games producer and publishing company. It was founded in 1983 and ceased its production in 1992.

Before they stopped their operation, they were able to develop and published “Army Moves”. This scrolling shooter game was the first chapter of the Moves Trilogy and was published in 1989 in Spain.

Gameplay

There are seven levels in the game, each of which is divided in two main sections. The first section is made up by four levels. In this level, the player has to drive an army unit, either helicopter or jeep, through a terrain while steering clear of hostile vehicles.

The second main section is made up of the last three levels. A player takes the role of a soldier who shoots enemies along his way. When the player reaches level 5, he must travel from rock to rock in a river while shooting hostile birds. Afterwards, he must sneak into the headquarter of his enemies to retrieve secret documents. You will receive a higher bonus if you complete the seven sections of Army Moves.

Some versions have a high score table to record your achievements. The second section must be loaded separately, using a code attained from completing part one, on some versions. Desert Moves was a fourth entry in the series and was announced at the end of Arctic Moves, however it never appeared.

The non-Spanish music used in the game was based on the Colonel Bogey March.

Unfortunately, Army Moves did not receive much of positive reviews. According to one review, it’s “Almost non-existent gameplay makes this very poor value for money”.

Contrary to several negative reviews, this game was successful enough in Spain that it gave birth to two follow-ups – Navy Moves in 1988 and Arctic Moves in 1995. In 2009, there were even adaptions to casino games in slot machines that included early elements of the game.

Trivia

Releases

Spanish company Dinamic Software originally created the Amstrad, ZX Spectrum, MSX and PC versions. When Imagine distributed the game in the UK, they developed versions for the Atari ST, C64 and the Amiga for maximizing their profit.

You must be wondering why Dinamic did not bother to port the game for these versions. The reason is because these systems were not popular in Spain at the time.

Structure

Most of the games in Spain during this period were divided into two independent parts, with the second part being password protected. Dinamic is well-known for this trademark until other companies such as Topo and Opera adopted this game trend. In tape versions, each part would fit into a side of the tape and could be loaded separately.
